JULY IPHONE PHOTOS

Here is a collection of iPhone photos I took during the development of my exhibition. This month I’ve been making collages using physical prints and digitally on my phone. I’ve really enjoyed layering objects, then rephotographing them. It feels both sustainable and ephemeral—something about the process allows the work to exist briefly. Often, these collages or assemblages drift away from me, unfixed.

I went for a walk at the start of the month and collected fallen blooms. I love the colours. I am very grateful and thankful for all the flowers around me. You are all so pretty and handsome.

I also published this website (!) and spent time trying to make it feel intentional and cared for. I’ve had a lot of success with the collage work lately—I'm really enjoying the images I’m creating. I can see them taking so many different forms.

Earlier this month, I visited Joe to do some test printing. I have to be fiscally responsible with what I produce, so I’m being more thoughtful about which images make it to print.

I’ve also been paying attention to what’s flowering around me. It’s a really beautiful time of year down south. There are banksias lining the roads, and the wattle is out—bright, bright yellow. I want to gather some big branches and begin laying botanicals and objects directly on the body. There’s something calling me in that gesture. There are lots of amber tones in the fungi flowering.

Oh! I also went to visit the gallery space for the exhibition—<3 Arts Narrogin<3. The gallery and everyone working there were so kind and supportive. It made me feel really excited about what's to come.

Things I Keep Thinking About: My phone addiction, How I wish I could change my body, How I love my body, living in a colony, wanting to be respectful of everyone, wanting to express myself fully, how does/ can the experience of being photographed shape our identity, who are we outside and inside our online identities, the soft shifts in colour.

I’m really grateful to have this art project to focus on. It's grounding me. The connection between photography and memory keeps circling back. It is such a wonderful tool.

I’m looking forward to next month. More development. Hopefully I’ll be taking photos of models, prints, and experimenting with larger-scale collage. I’m excited to keep going. I feel this body of work coming into form.

I love my body.

I love the internet.

I love the planet. <3
